of Biological Sciences
and CBMS:
For University fieldwork activities, Biological
Sciences has three 4WD Turbo Diesel double cab utilities (two Toyota
Hilux, auto & manual gearing, plus a
Mitsubishi Triton manual),
as well as two 2WD auto utilities (a Hilux V6 petrol & a Triton
Turbo diesel). These vehicles are only available to staff &
students of this Department. All vehicle users must see Craig Angus for
Head of Department approval prior to initial use & to
discuss any extensive field trip plans. A copy of your Drivers Licence
needs to be submitted for insurance coverage. Use of the vehicles is
charged at $0.55/km for
staff and
students which requires an account number to be recorded in the log
books.
Note: As of 1st January 2011, charges will increase to
70c/km. So please talk to your supervisor first booking a vehicle to
check available funding. For vehicle use by staff & students of
other Departments, the charge is $1.00/km. For provisional licenced
drivers and or interstate or overseas drivers, please refer to the
links below for licence restriction details.
In order to keep track of your vehicle use
expenditures, please contact Craig Angus for photocopies of the vehicle
log books. Due to extensive work commitments by support staff during
semesters, there may be delays in fund deductions, so please keep track
of your vehicle usage.
If you wish to use your own vehicle for University
purposes: Private
vehicle use application.
Biological Sciences has PBLs (EPIRBs), first aid kits, GPS, UHF 2-way radios, & satellite phones as well as a range of 4WD recovery equipment kits. We can also assist you with borrowing other equipment both within the Department & elsewhere in the University as well as recommending relevant equipment suppliers. Contact Craig Angus to discuss what resources are appropriate to your needs.
