OLYMPUS FLUOVIEW 300 CONFOCAL MICROSCOPE

The FLUOVIEW 300 offers high resolution confocal sectioning with the ability to conduct time-lapse experiments.  This system is capable of utilising a wide range of fluorochromes and imaging modalities.  Live cell observations using spectral variants of Green fluorescent protein (GFP) may be performed on this system.  Multiple 3D images may be obtained to perform accurate 3D Structure analysis.  High resolution 12bit images provide the basis of quantitative imaging.  Different scanning modes may be used to chart time-lapse changes efficiently.  The unit is currently involved in a number of projects using the confocal microscope and this is a rapidly expanding field in biological sciences.

LEICA VT 1000S VIBRATOME

The VT 1000s is a vibrating blade microtome that can produce sections of fresh tissues as thin as 20µm that permit enhanced optical resolution.  The combined use of vibratome sections and the inverted microscope on the confocal system allows for electrophysiological and imaging experiments to be performed with the high numerical aperture immersion objectives.  The vibratome facilitates experimental work where cellular visualization is critical.
