ARBORETUM NEWS: Macquarie took out 5 Awards at the Ryde Council's Spring Garden competition awards night last week. One of them went to the Arboretum's Bush Tucker Garden (alongside F7) which received an Innovation Award in the Best Edible Garden category. Sam Newton would like to thank Property for donating the space (which used to be a car park) and to acknowledge the contributions of Alison Downing, David Harrington and Nola Hancock in the design of the garden.
Macquarie also received:
- 3rd Place in Best Bushcare Site for our Saturday Bushcare@MQ group in Ecology Reserve on Mars Creek;
- Innovation Award in Best Bushcare Site for the campus Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest remnant restoration group;
- Participation in Best Edible Garden for the Macquarie University Community Garden;
- Winner of Best Pre-School Garden for Gumnut Cottage's kids garden.
