Welcome to the "Building and maintaining your research website" module of the Genes to Geoscience Research Enrichment Program. This website will serve as a template for your very own research website. By the end of the day you will have personalised this template by changing fonts and colours, inserting text, photos and PDFs, and maybe even changing the site's overall layout. You will be making these changes directly to HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) files using a text editor, which will help you better understand how websites function under the hood.

Below are several links to today's materials: the HTML tutorial, a compressed folder containing this website, and the module's lecture. Click to download any of these materials to your computer. In your actual website, below might be a good place to link to a PDF version of your CV, an item that should be immediately accessible to someone browsing your website. Some people make a webpage specifically for their CV (in the menu to the left).
